Building Bridges: Thought Leader Forum 2008
On November 10, 2008, the Pembina Institute and the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economics (ISEEE) at the University of Calgary brought together representatives of industry, academia, government and environmental organizations as well as land owners at the Thought Leader Forum on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Calgary, Alberta.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimates that CCS could help to reduce 15% to 55% of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2100 by capturing emissions and storing them underground. In Canada, CCS could potentially be used to reduce the emissions associated with oil sands and coal-fired electricity production.
Visit our new CCS website for information, research and policy papers discussing key aspects of CCS; the proceedings report from the Forum; Dr. David Keith's (Director of ISEEE's Energy and Environmental Systems Group) keynote address; and video interviews with seven key stakeholders on their opinion about CCS.
